Witches brooms for Halloween treats

When my son was in kindergarten, I sent him into the yard to gather sticks. Together with a few other craft store supplies, the sticks were the start of an adorable treat bag I made for his classmates for their school Halloween party. This year, we skipped the sticks and used pencils instead. Check out these cute witches brooms!

This simple project can be customized so many different ways. But the basics are simple. You will need raffia or ribbon - or both - and small paper bags. My bags were 3.5 inches wide, 2 inches deep and 6.75 inches tall.

Each broom is made using two of the small bags. Place one opened bag inside of a second opened bag. Then carefully cut slits down the bag on the outside. The slits should be cut down the entire length of the bag, but stop at the bottom of the bag. Don't cut the bottom of your bag!

Fill your inside bag with treats before gathering both bags, sticking a pencil or a stick in the middle, and tie tightly with ribbon or raffia, or both.

The result is this simple and scary witch broom, perfect for school Halloween party treats or even to give out to trick-or-treaters - if you are feeling especially crafty!
